Every table in our catalogue extends: closed, they suit a kitchen or living room; open, they make room for a few extra guests. You'll find dining tables with X-shaped, spoke, trestle or corner legs, tops with a marble, concrete or wood-tone look, and extending consoles that move from the wall to the middle of the room. To choose an extending dining table, count how many people sit down every day and how many on special occasions, how much space is left around it for chairs, and where the legs fall when you sit down. At our Erbusco showroom, in Franciacorta, a consultant will explain how the different models open and help you choose the right one for your dining room.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose an extending table?
Start with the number of people: how many sit down every day and how many on special occasions. Then measure the room with the table open, leaving space to pull out chairs and walk past. Look at the legs too: with a central or X-shaped base the corners stay free for chairs, while with corner legs it's worth checking where they fall when the table is open. With your room measurements we can help you find the right model.
What is the difference between an extending table and an extending console?
An extending table is a dining table that lengthens to seat more people. An extending console, when closed, is a narrow piece that stands against the wall in a hallway or living room, and opens with extension leaves until it becomes a table. It's the answer if you're short of space and only have guests now and then.
Where do the extension leaves go when not in use?
It depends on the model. In some tables the leaf stays under the top or inside the frame and comes out when you open the table; in others, such as consoles, the leaves are stored separately, for example in a nearby cupboard. At the showroom we'll explain how the table you like works.
Which legs should I choose for a dining table?
X-shaped legs or a central base leave the corners free and make a strong statement; corner legs are more classic and discreet; spoke or trestle legs become a decorative feature. Beyond style, think about where diners' legs will go, especially with the table open: it helps to picture the seating before you choose.
