Storage beds

Upholstered storage beds with a base that lifts to reveal the space under the mattress. Choose model and upholstery with a consultant at our Erbusco showroom.

A storage bed combines a bed and an extra wardrobe: lift the base and you'll find a space for duvets, blankets and out-of-season clothes. Our catalogue includes upholstered double storage beds with different headboards, from cushion styles to a tall headboard quilted in squares, on slim legs or with the frame down to the floor. When choosing, think about the room you need to lift the base, the height of the headboard compared with windows and pictures, and the upholstery, which is worth seeing and touching in person. At our Erbusco showroom, in Franciacorta, you'll find upholstery samples and a consultant to help you choose the right upholstered storage bed for your bedroom.

Frequently asked questions

What are the downsides of a storage bed?

A storage bed is heavier to move than a bed on legs, and you can't clean the floor underneath because the storage space reaches almost to the ground. You need some free space to lift the base, and it's a good idea to open the storage now and then to air it. In return you gain a lot of storage space. Many of these points depend on the model: at the showroom you can ask us how the one you like opens.

How much weight can a storage bed hold?

There's no single figure: the weight a storage bed can support depends on its frame, the base and the pistons that lift it, and the manufacturer specifies it for each model. The mattress matters too: a very heavy one needs suitable pistons. Before choosing, ask us for the specifications of the model you like.

Is a front-opening or a side-opening base better?

With a front opening the base lifts from the foot of the bed: you need free space in front, but you can reach the whole storage area. With a side opening the base lifts from one side, which is handy when the bed is against a wall or there's little room at the foot. Not every model offers both: at the showroom we'll tell you which openings are available for the bed you like.

What should I keep in a storage bed?

It's ideal for things you use rarely that take up a lot of space: duvets, blankets, spare pillows, bed linen and out-of-season clothes. Breathable bags or boxes keep everything tidy and protect it from dust, and it helps to leave a little air between items.
